Interstate 15 Crash Killed One and Injured Another Near Mira Mesa
San Diego, CA (August 23, 2023) – One person succumbed to fatal injuries after an Interstate 15 crash near Mira Mesa. According to FOX5, the crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday.
An Interstate 15 crash caused one person to succumb to fatal injuries near Mira Mesa.
The California Highway Patrol responded to a fatal Interstate 15 crash just north of Mira Mesa Boulevard.
According to a news release by CHP Public Information Officer Jesse Matias, a man in a Toyota sedan in the No. 4 lane and a woman in a Nissan SUV in the No. 3 lane collided on the freeway.
The driver of the Nissan, a 59-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries, but they are not life-threatening.
Consequently, she was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately, a passenger inside the Nissan lost their life as a result of the crash.
However, the identity of the deceased passenger has not been released by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
For approximately three hours, several lanes of southbound I-15 had to be closed to allow for an on-scene investigation.
The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation.
CHP has determined that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.
