One Man Killed in an Interstate 5 Pedestrian Crash in Downtown San Diego
San Diego, CA (September 18, 2023) – One man succumbed to fatal injuries after an Interstate 5 pedestrian crash. According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, the crash happened around 8:40 p.m. on Sunday.
A male pedestrian succumbed to fatal injuries after an Interstate 5 pedestrian crash north of downtown San Diego.
The California Highway Patrol responded to a fatal Interstate 5 pedestrian crash in the Cortez Hill neighborhood.
The southbound lanes of the freeway near state Route 163 were the scene of the tragic accident, which claimed the life of a male pedestrian.
The pedestrian was struck by a Nissan Altima, leading to him sustaining severe injuries. Unfortunately, he died at the scene.
As of Monday, no further information about the pedestrian was provided.
Following the crash, the Nissan driver, a 26-year-old woman, stopped her vehicle and cooperated with CHP investigators.
Officials confirmed she was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Currently, this Interstate 5 pedestrian crash is under investigation.
