Scotts Valley, CA (August 31, 2023) – Laurie E. Bryant (58) and Steven L. Bryant (62) of San Jose succumbed to fatal injuries after a Mount Hermon Road crash. According to KSBW, the crash happened around 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

A San Jose couple died in a tragic Mount Hermon Road crash in Scotts Valley yesterday when a commercial van hit them shortly before 5 p.m.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as Laurie E. Bryant, 58, and Steven L. Bryant, 62, both from San Jose.
According to the Scotts Valley Police Department, the collision occurred on Mount Hermon Road just beyond Skypark Drive towards Felton when the couple’s gold sedan collided head-on with a commercial van.
Unfortunately, SVPD Det. Sgt. Meredith Roberts revealed that the male sedan driver and a female passenger died at the scene.
Additionally, paramedics transported a young girl in the car to Skypark via an AMR ambulance.
From there, police airlifted her to a hospital in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the male driver of the white van “sustained only minor injuries and walked away from the scene,” according to Roberts.
It remains uncertain whether drugs or alcohol played a role in this Mount Hermon Road crash.
The closure of Mount Hermon Road lasted for several hours, causing traffic congestion during the evening rush hour, as personnel from the coroner’s office arrived, and the California Highway Patrol conducted measurements.
