Two Individuals Killed and Three Critically Injured in a Long Beach Boat Fire
Long Beach, CA (August 5, 2023) – A Long Beach boat fire killed two individuals and three others critically injured. According to KTLA5, the crews responded to the boat fire around 5:17 p.m. on Saturday night.
Two people died and three others sustained critical injuries after a Long Beach boat fire.
The Long Beach Fire Department promptly responded to a Long Beach boat fire that erupted near the 200 block of Marina Drive, resulting in two deaths and three critical burn-related injuries.
Authorities identified the deceased victims as two women in their 60s, while the injured victims were two men and one woman also in their 60s. Responders airlifted all five victims to local hospitals for treatment.
The report says the flames erupted on a “35-foot pleasure craft” nearby a fuel dock near Fire Station 21, completely damaging the vessel.
Witnesses say the incident may have occurred as the victims refueled the boat.
However, this information is still pending confirmation.
Authorities dispatched both land and marine reinforcements to the scene to contain the blaze.
They took the damaged vessel to an isolation dock to prevent fuel leakage into the waters, and a hazmat team and officials from the L.A. County Coroner’s Office arrived at the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the names of the victims have not been released.
Moreover, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
J&M Tip: It is important for boat owners to prioritize safety and take necessary precautions to prevent accidents from occurring. Simple measures can go a long way in minimizing the risk of boat fires and ensuring the safety of all passengers and operators.
