An Orange Hit-and-Run Killed a Pedestrian After a Driver with 4 DUI Convictions Struck Him
Orange, CA (March 13, 2024) – An Orange hit-and-run along the 300 block of Tustin Street, north of Palm Avenue left a pedestrian dead. Police also arrested the driver involved with four prior DUI convictions. According to The Orange County Register, the crash happened around 11:18 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to the Orange Police Department Lt. Phil McMullin, the incident occurred when a Toyota sedan traveling northbound along the 300 block of Tustin Street, north of Palm Avenue, struck the victim crossing a roadway outside a protected crosswalk.
Unfortunately, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene, although his identity has not yet been disclosed.
Meanwhile, an officer sighted the sedan along Katella Avenue approximately 10 minutes after the hit-and-run. Following a brief pursuit, the driver, identified as Jonathan Lopez, 31, eventually halted in the vicinity of Tustin and Adams Avenue, where he was promptly arrested.
McMullin revealed that Lopez, an Orange resident, had accumulated four DUI convictions within the last decade and was driving without a license at the time of the crash. Lopez exhibited signs of alcohol intoxication during his arrest on suspicion of felony DUI, felony hit and run, evading, and vehicular homicide.
Moreover, as authorities continued their investigation, the stretch of Tustin Street between Palm and Walnut avenues remained closed for an estimated five hours on Tuesday afternoon.
