Palm Springs, CA (October 12, 2021) – William Merinko, 67, was killed in a crash with another vehicle on N Sunrise Way, near E Tachevah Dr in Riverside County.
The collision was reported around 10:20 p.m. Palm Spring Police responded to the scene shortly thereafter. William Merinko had been traveling on N Sunrise Way when he collided with another vehicle at the intersection of E Tachevah Dr.
Police and first responders found Merinko after he had been ejected from the vehicle and had sustained major injuries. The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries. It was noted that there was an electrical outage in the vicinity of the crash that was first reported around 9:00pm to Southern California Edison and affected nearly 1500 customers in Palm Springs.
Merinko was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries with the next few hours. Drugs or alcohol are not suspected as factors in the deadly crash and it is currently under investigation.
