The California Highway Patrol reported a Fresno road pedestrian accident on the 4500 block of West Shields Avenue, east of Cornelia Avenue.
A pedestrian, identified as a 44-year-old man, had to be rushed to Community Regional Medical Center after sustaining major injuries.
According to the CHP, an eastbound vehicle struck the pedestrian as he was walking east on West Shields Avenue. The driver told the authorities that he did not see the victim on the road.
Authorities confirmed that the driver was not impaired at the time of the accident.
