According to the San Diego Police Department, the unidentified man was engaging in the activity on the eastbound side of the Mission Bay Park-area street for reasons unknown when a Honda Fit collided with him east of West Mission Bay Drive.
The impact propelled the victim into the path of an approaching Toyota Camry, which subsequently ran over him, SDPD Officer John Buttle mentioned.
Following the collision, a minivan also rear-ended the Camry.
Unfortunately, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene, with no other injuries reported.
