Suspected East County DUI Crash Left One Fatal and Four People Injured in Rancho San Diego
Rancho San Diego, CA (July 7, 2023) – A man in his 80s succumbed to fatal injuries in a suspected East County DUI crash at Cuyamaca College Drive West and Jamacha Road. Four other involved individuals also sustained injuries. According to Fox 5, the crash occurred around 4:35 p.m. on Friday.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a fatal East County DUI crash at Cuyamaca College Drive West and Jamacha Road in Rancho San Diego.
Four occupants sustained injuries in the crash. Unfortunately, a passenger in his 80s also died at the scene.
Authorities reported that a black Honda Civic driver may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol when they ran a red light at the intersection of State Route 54 and Cuyamaca College Drive.
Additionally, footage of the accident showed that the Honda slammed into a black Nissan. The impact of the crash also caused the vehicle to hit a Tesla. Both cars were turning left into a shopping center.
A rear passenger of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. While the Nissan Driver, a front passenger, and the Honda driver sustained significant injuries and were taken to the hospital. The Tesla driver, on the other hand, sustained minor injuries.
