Veronica Vargas Killed in Alleged Hit-and-Run DUI Crash in Sacramento
Sacramento, CA (May 30, 2022) – Veronica Vargas (35) of Sacramento was identified as the victim who got killed after getting hit by a pickup truck at Power Inn Road and Elsie Avenue in Sacramento. According to KCRA, the incident happened at around 8:30 am on Monday.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Vargas was inside her 2014 Ford Explorer SUV with her 4-year-old daughter. Then, a white 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Kryn Michael Spear (32) ran a red light and crashed into the SUV at Power Inn Road.
After the crash, the SUV overturned. The alleged drunk driver then attempted to flee on foot after people at the scene helped him out of the vehicle. Vargas died at the scene. Meanwhile, her daughter is currently in critical condition.
Authorities then arrested the alleged drunk driver, Spear. They booked him into the Sacramento County Main Jail for multiple felony charges. Spear is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
Vargas’s family members set up a GoFundMe page, asking for kindness and prayers.
Vargas left behind a husband and her 5 children.
The accident is still under investigation by the South Sacramento CHP Area office.
