Ana Ortega Fatally Injured in Pedestrian Accident Involving an Off-Duty Clovis Police Officer in Fresno
Fresno, CA (April 20, 2023) – Ana Ortega (51) of Sanger was identified as the fatality in a pedestrian accident involving an off-duty Clovis police officer in Fresno. According to ABC30, the incident occurred before 8:00 am.
Ana Ortega was fatally injured after an off-duty Clovis police officer struck her in Fresno.
Authorities responded to a fatal pedestrian accident involving an off-duty Clovis police officer in Fresno.
Despite attempts at life-saving measures, the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as Ana Ortega of Sanger.
Ortega was also walking her dog before the crash happened.
Her dog survived the crash with major injuries. They took the dog to the Fresno County SPCA for treatment.
According to the CHP, Ortega was heading west when a pickup truck from the opposite direction struck her. An off-duty Clovis police officer drove the pickup truck.
After the crash, the police officer reportedly attempted to render first aid to the victim until first responders arrived.
Authorities are determining whether this crash was caused by distracted driving.
